Officers Reports

VP- The Sept Floats n Boats event at Lake Hughes was once again a great success. It was perfect weather for a fun day at the lake. Approx. 10 members and 1 guest were on hand. The Oct night fly was a great evening of flying and kibitzing. We started around 6:00 pm, with 7 pilots, the weather was great at the field and the fun concluded approx 9:30 pm.

The Annual Christmas Party will be in the newly renovated Lodge at Camp Edwards on Sat., Dec 2nd ,

3:00 to 6:00 pm.

Treasurer – Funds are in good shape. The $700 donation to Sky Valley Food bank still has to be delivered.

Secretary- Currently we have 34 paid members

Safety – Everything going well. A reminder that there are 72 megahertz card slots in the frequency board. A few members still fly on 72. We’ve become complacent with the 2.4 of not worrying about shooting someone down. If flying on 72, mark your channel and beware of others with that LONGGG antenna ( a sure give away ).

Field Manager – Jay mentioned to Mark that he has a covered section like the frequency board kitted up and ready for construction.

News Letter Editor  - Hard copies available and your input is needed. Please send Club interest and event pics to Ron Swift and Ron Rueter

Web Master – Always looking for input, pics and Club news.

The calendar said Christmas Party date to be determined. After discussion, Sat Dec 2nd was selected. Bryan checked with Ranger Dave and he OK’d the use of the Lodge for the Christmas Party.

The grill has a permanent home by the frequency board, propane tank is kept in the barn. Jay has a small structure w/roof kitted up and needs to get it to the field. If anyone can help with that please let Jay or Mark know.

There was some discussion about the number of events we had this year. The Board will look at possibly keeping Aug. free from events so members can attend other events, air shows or just catch a break from event schedules. More to come..

Ron R., Mark and Chet went to Wenatchee Red Apple Flyers to see the NW Scale Competition. There was a decent line up of aircraft and flying to keep things going until 2:00 or so. It was hot, fun and always a treat to visit such a nice field and Club.

We still have mowing slots available thru Sept and dates thru Oct.. Please do your share and sign up for a slot.

Dart and Paul went to the Snohomish Helicopter Club Heli event and came out with goodies and some classes

A motion was made to add Club funds to the $512.50 from the Auction and make an even $700 to the Sky Valley Food Bank. Ron and Mark will make that presentation as their schedules allow. Motion passed.

October meeting will be the Rebuilder’s contest.

Also at the Oct meeting, we will go over and vote on the new budget for 2018, dues amount and this meeting will also open up nominations for the Club Executive Board positions. All positions are open for nomination.

We all saw that it was a really busy summer with events abounding all thru the 5 months. Some think too many, some think ok as is, some don’t seem to care. The Board would like your opinion so they can set up next year fairly and with everyone’s best interest at heart. With Mark’s work at the field cutting back the high bushes, Combat might be able to resume again. More to come!!

Mark asked for help deciding programs that would interest the members and grow attendance at the meetings. Please contact him or any Board member with ideas.

Nominations for Executive Board were as follows…

Pres – Mark Weeks (accepted), VP – Bryan Reightley (asked for a month to consider), Treasurer – Ron Swift (accepted), Secretary _ Chet Blake (accepted but urging membership participation in offices),Safety Officer – Don Bailey (accepted), Special Service Award – Len Douma, Mark Weeks. Ron handed out the Freeze-In patches for this year and showed a new hexagonal design. Yearly patches will go around the 6 sides.

Announcements- For those who might have not seen the emails, Chet mentioned that Dick Broderson passed away on Aug 19th. His wife said that Dick wanted some of his airplane and parts go to the Club to be used in whatever way worked for the Club.

PROGRAM…. Re-Builder’s Contest had 3 entrants. Mark Weeks brought in his newly rebuilt after crash PT-19. Ron Swift brought in a Vampire and Don Bailey brought in a Mercury High Wing. The 3 contestants were sent out of the room and voting proceeded with the following results..
