As a test, a laptop computer was set up for bringing our club meeting to the internet using ZOOM.  We started the ZOOM session 15 minutes before the club meeting was scheduled to start as a test.  One member joined the meeting using ZOOM.  The connection dropped out a few times and we’ll have to decide if we need or want to continue to use this technology going forward.

President Mark Weeks called the meeting to order on June 12th  at 1:01 PM and introduced the current club officers for 2021

OLD BUSINESS

Mark mentioned that once again there was no new action of past business items and the attending club members already passed the meeting minutes as published.  So, we’ll move on to new business.

NEW BUSINESS

Mostly discussion and helpful sharing:

Chet Blake is stepping down as Safety Officer as he is moving out of state. He will be greatly missed as he has done so much for the club.

Mark asked for volunteers to fill Chet’s position. Vince Bell and Steven Higgins names were mentioned as possible replacements. A motion was made for Steve to become our new safety officer. He accepted the nomination and was voted into the office.

Thanks to Jim Stewart for the excellent brush hog work on the east side of the flying zone.  If you watched the mowing he did, you can appreciate how slowly he had to go and the amount of effort needed to get through the weeds.

Mark made an attempt to drag the area where the barn once stood to help flatten it out so grass and rock can be placed.  1st attempt did not go so well as there are LOTS of rocks.

The placement of gravel and timing was a topic of discussion.  No time set as of yet.

The Buzzards Annual Charity Auction is coming up in August.  Mark mentioned that it is time to gather up your donations or items you wish to sell.

A big thanks to Bryan for weed whacking the lake area for the Boats and Floats event.

The Safety topic was talked about again and it was brought up that we should get an orange safety vest with pockets so the radio and maybe a water bottle can be carried while retrieving a downed aircraft.  Mark said he would get one.

The topic of future meetings came up as far as when and where to hold them.  With COVID restrictions relaxing, having the meetings back at Alfy’s was the consensus. Mark will call them and see what can be worked out.  It was decided that evenings were preferable if held at Alfys.

Steve reported that he would like to purchase a second panel and battery for the container.  We are still way beneath our original budget so the green light was given.

Announcements/Discussions/Info Sharing.

John Rennert’s 87th birthday is next Saturday, June 19th,  and we are invited to join the celebration at his Big Lake Campground.  A powerboat is available for retrieval, if necessary [it was!]  Please contact Ron Swift, if you want to attend.

 PROGRAM:  Builders Contest

ADJOURNMENT:

Motion was made for adjourning the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:41 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Ron Swift BBMAC Secretary & Mark Weeks President
