OLD BUSINESS

The AMA had/has another call to action regarding the FAA intervention to our hobby. They are also wanting to set up a community “Drone Zone” where multirotor can be flown safely and at an appointed areas.

Open House and Auction.  Rained very heavy so event was moved into lodge, raised 145.00 for club charity

From the work party June 4th; the charging station now has a roof; the new carport has been erected, a couple tables got some attention-rework and a coat of paint. The tall grass next to the runway got a huge haircut.  Thanks to all those who helped out!

Mark is laying out pallets and tying them together with firing strips to make a safer way to walk over the boggy area and eventually over the creek to aid in retrieval of downed aircraft. Currently he has made it to the creek and will be working on a way over to the other side.  Ideas for crossing the creek are welcome. If you have to use the “Lost Plane Lane” Please be careful it is a work in progress.

The refrigerator that was donated to us last year had all but died. If you know where we can get a new one please let a board member know.

Jay will be picking up some grass seed to help fill in the bare spots.

There was much talk about the field, placement of the flight stations, wet ground, parking, disabled parking spot and the general direction of where we are headed. Mark made a motion to gather Saturday at the Open house look over the area and form a steering committee to work out a master plan to present to the members for approval. Motion passed. If you are interested please contact Mark. Committee consists of Mark, Chet, Jay, Bryan, Len and Brian Douma and Vaughan.

Ted reported that the Arlington Eagles have acquired a 1 year extension on their field lease. That’s good news and we wish them the best.

We still have some barren spots on the runway, Jay will be purchasing some more seed  to help fill in the grass.

Sign in log is getting moderate use, please sign in when you fly. This will give us an idea as to how much use the field is getting used.

Floats and Boats event was a huge success, we need to get work out to other clubs further in advance. Mark to send out notification August and Early September.

New member report- We need to find a way to get new member info out to other members. Possibly use membership cards in the frequency board. Also there was discussion about in the members only section of the Web adding members photos.  Either can be used and acceptable AMA card or Club membership card.  Mark to contact Ron about adding this to the Web site.

Program:  Builders contest: All the planes that were entered were very well done and it was a close competition

  • 2nd place went to Ron Swift
  • 3rd place went to Ted Becker

NEW BUSINESS

$200 from the auction was collected and a motion was made for the club to add another $200 to go to our charity, motion was seconded and passed.

We have been using the phrase “we are a work in progress” when it comes to our field for a couple of years, and while that is true we have definitely come a long way. We still have a lot of areas to work on so  it was decided to have a Field Recommendation committee. The Members are: Mark, Chet, Jay, Bryan, Len and Brian Douma and Vaughan. The committee met at the field on Saturday July 9th and came up with a plan that will be shared later this meeting.

Last meetings builders contest winners are: Don Bailey in 1st, Ron Swift 2nd, Ted Becker 3rd. Congrats to all.

The AMA and FAA have agreed to terms regarding small unmanned aircraft. The rules can be seen at http://www.modelaircraft.org/aboutama/gov.aspx. It looks for the time being the AMA rules will be what are followed by us.

Saturday July 23rd we will have our Fun Fly event, starting with the pilots meeting at 10:00am. We’ll do pizza and refreshments but we will need a runner. At least 4 events will be completed with one to two in the bag if time permits

August 27th is a bragging rights fun day with mulit-rotors and gliders. Just a couple of things to try and compete with or learn!

September 8, 9, 10th and 11th is the Scale Champ completion at the Wenatchee Red Apple Flyers. If you have never been you should give it a try.

September is another Floats and Boats event so get your water stuff ready.

Summer Camp is in session so the lake and Camp Brinkley are off limits to all Buzzards.

It has been noticed that the field and surrounding area is starting to look like a dump. There were white chairs on the hillside, junk wood piled and tarps about. We need to keep the area looking good. Remember to pack out what you bring in. Leave the place better looking than when you came in.

The chairs have been stacked under the awning please replace them there after use.

The work party will address the wood and burn barrel.

We used to hand out a welcome packet to all new members, Mark will build a new packet to be handed out to any new members.

There was a motion to have patches made for the night fly event like we do for the freeze in it was seconded and motion passed.

Ron Swift was able to get some AMA Gold Leader pins for the club at $3.00 ea. They are available if you wish to contact Ron Swift.

Jay is having a sign made for the front gate to welcome guests.

At the open house one of your neighbors stopped in to talk, very nice person and a great neighbor for us to have.

Model Aviation Day is august 13th 10 to 2 or later. Tim is heading up the event and Ron Swift   and him have made a flyer to be placed about  and send to newspapers. Tim will approach area stores to look for donations of food for us to serve. We ill have buddy boxes and demonstrations thought the day. If you would like to help contact Tim.

Field committee report was presented to the membership and will be e-mailed to the membership
