May 12th - Builders Contest
May 23th - Float Event ( both in the air and on the water)
Field maintenance was discussed. There are some low spots that need to be filled as they are holding water. Also discussed was adding drainage like what was done at the North-end to other locations that have a tendency to hold water. Jay suggested that we try a pick-up load of topsoil at a time to fill in the spots.
Dick Resler and Jay Bell are working on the frequency board. The board is mostly kitted and just need to be put together.
At the meeting the discussion of to how we can get the word out about the field. Some ideas: make a location for newsletters and applications near front gate. Jay and Al to work on holders. A holder has been placed on the fence post by the gate with current newsletters in place.
There was talk of adding more information such as signage with the website address, spelling out BBMAC,(Barnyard Buzzards Model Airplane Club) etc.
Float and Fly event is in conflict with a Scouting event so it has been moved to Sunday May 24th at 10:00. Motion made and passed.
Discussion regarding glider / quad / Helicopter pilot stations came up. Some of the items were, how many are in the air at one time, where should the pilots be located. There was a motion made to place a glider/quad station in the rough area where the sunshade is currently located, and to move the sunshade down towards the middle of the pits. Helicopters are to be flown down to the south end of the field.
June 20th is the field dedication, along with auction and open house. Flyers will be sent to other local AMA clubs this month.
Porta-Potties- John Rennert donated 4x4s some Plywood. There was discussion as to how and where to place the wall and if we wanted to move them back into the barn. In the end the discussion was made to build the barricade wall on pier blocks and tie it to the barn for stability. Jay will pick up the blocks.
Barn lighting has been added and there is an outlet just inside the door for battery charging. ALL CHARGING MUST BE DONE OUTSIDE. There is a extension cord inside on the table and a charging table is planned. Also a GFI outlet will be added in the near future.
Our wonderful landlords the Scouts have place a ramp by the dock for us to attach to our flying dock, it will have to be attached and moved a little but there is not enough thanks for their generosity.
